Detroit’s Greektown Casino Hotel
The Greektown Historic District of Detroit, Michigan is home to Greektown Casino Hotel, one of the city’s three casino resort hotels. Jack Entertainment LLC owns and manages the property, which has been operational since 2000.
Greektown Casino Hotel has a modern feel to it, with various renovations and additions undertaken in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The original owners were the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, who filed for bankruptcy protection and sold it to investment groups Greektown Superholdings, Inc. and Greektown Newco Sub Inc. Dan Gilbert’s company Rock Gaming, bought a majority stake in the Greektown property in 2013. This is part of the plan that Gilbert, who founded Quicken Loans, has to revitalise downtown Detroit.
Gameplay at Greektown Casino Hotel
Slots are the lifeblood of most casinos, and the range available at this one is very impressive. Several of them are Progressive Jackpot machines, and Electronic Game fans can also enjoy a wide range of Video Poker options.
Table Games include Poker-style titles, Baccarat, Blackjack, Craps and Roulette, and a busy Poker Room hosts 12 tables that offer complimentary snacks and drinks. Poker titles include Texas Hold’Em, No Limit Texas Hold’Em, Pot Limit Omaha HI, Pot Limit Omaha HI/LO, Limit Omaha Hi and Omaha Hi-Lo.
Visitors can swing by the Player Services Desk and sign up for the GT Rewards Loyalty Programme, which awards points every time they place a bet. This moves players through the 5 tiers of the Programme, giving them access to ever-greater perks such as VIP Golf Events, Valet Parking and Tournaments; access to the High Limit Lounge and free Limousine services.
Aside from the GT Rewards Programme, the casino also runs different bonuses and promotions. These change regularly, so it’s always worth checking them out before you arrive to make sure that you take full advantage of them. They might be cash, other prizes, extra playing opportunities or anything else management can think of, but they are usually worthwhile no matter what form they take.
Accommodation at Greektown Casino Hotel
Flat screen televisions and many other modern amenities are available in all of the different room options at the resort, and there are several package deals of good value that put staying here within the reach of most players’ budgets.
The property also functions as a convention and meeting venue, and is ideal for both corporate events such as workshops and special events like family reunions. Being able to stay at the venue for these is, of course, a big bonus and convenience.
A food court called the Market District offers specialties from all over the world, while the award-winning Prism is available for fine dining. Both Prism and the more casual Bistro 555 offer great views of Greektown, so smart or casual diners can all enjoy the scenery.
Events are also often staged at the property’s restaurants, making the dining experience more special. Players who get to enjoy some of these live performances often find them the perfect finishing touch to visiting the Greektown Casino Hotel.
